Lexiloot lives from great categories. The kind that make you laugh, think fast, and suddenly argue in the best way possible about whether an answer should count. And because the best ideas rarely come from a spreadsheet, we built something we’ve wanted for a long time: you can now suggest your own categories directly inside the app.
If you ever played a round and thought, “This would be way better with a category like ‘Things you’d never say at work’,” or “Movie titles that sound like real life,” this is your moment. You can create a category in just a few taps and send it to our review queue.
How it works
Inside Lexiloot, go to the category area and choose the option to add a new category. You’ll pick the language, type in your category name, and submit it. That’s it. We’ll review every submission to make sure it works smoothly in real games and fits the style of Lexiloot.
We do this review step on purpose. A category has to be clear, fair, and fun across many players. Some ideas look great at first, but end up confusing or too similar to existing categories. Others might be awesome but need a tiny wording tweak to work perfectly. Our goal is to keep the game fast and frustration free, while still letting the community shape what Lexiloot becomes.
The cost and the fair part
Submitting a category costs 25 Lexis (diamonds). But here is the important part: you only pay if your category gets accepted.
If we don’t accept your submission, you’ll automatically get your 25 Lexis back. No guessing, no disappointment. We simply want to make sure the review process stays clean and focused, while being fair to everyone who takes the time to send a real idea.
What makes a category likely to be accepted
If you want the best chance of getting in, aim for categories that are:
- Clear in one sentence: people should instantly know what to write.
- Playable for many letters: avoid categories that only work for a few letters.
- Not too niche: inside jokes are fun, but broad categories create better rounds.
- Different from existing categories: a fresh twist always helps.
A good test: imagine four friends at a party who have never seen the category before. Would they get it immediately, and would it create fun answers?
Your ideas shape the game
This feature is our way of saying: Lexiloot isn’t just a word game you play. It’s a game you help build. Every accepted category makes future rounds better for everyone, and it keeps the game feeling new even after hundreds of matches.
So if you have a fun category idea, send it in. We can’t wait to see what you come up with.
